Special Events in Fort Meade

9-11 COMMEMORATION
On 11 September 2002, the Fort Meade Museum hosted a commemorative ceremony for the victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. The Installation Commander at the time, COL John Ives, made a few comments and then, with the Provost Marshal (LTC Demps) and the Fire Chief (Robert Miller), unveiled the monument. Forrest M. Taylor, Pipe Major, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment played the bagpipes.

Memorial Day
On 22 May 2008, the Fort George G. Meade Museum hosted a Memorial Day service with MAJ Glenn Williams (retired) as the featured guest speaker. The service began with the playing of bagpipes by Forrest M. Taylor, Pipe Major, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (not shown) and concluded with the lowering of the flag by the DINFOS Honor Guard. Museum Curator Robert Johnson hosted the ceremony and introduced each speaker, Chaplain Michael Punke gave the invocation, and the Installation Commander, COL Kenneth McCreedy presented the introductory remarks. Several representatives from local congressional offices made short remarks honoring America's fallen.
